Jacob Lichtman

Jacob Lichtman is a graduate student of Mental Health Counseling at Baruch College, City University of New York and is currently completing his practicum at Brooklyn Minds. He received his Bachelors of Arts in psychology from Touro College and his Bachelors of Talmudic Law from United Talmudic Academy (UTA). While pursuing his degrees Jacob worked as an Applied Behavioral Analysis, Certified Registered Behavior Technician utilizing behavioral therapy with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. He also worked with adults going through career changes and is currently teaching a weekly Talmud and Psychology seminar for college students at the CUNY Hillel Jewish Center. Jacob has experience working with children and young adults with disorders such as ASD, ADHD and ODD both one-on-one and in groups and is well equipped to work with individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds. Jacob is passionate about working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma among other disorders but he is particularly interested in working with families and individuals with personality disorders. He chose to train with Brooklyn Minds because of its high regard amongst experts in the field of BPD for utilizing cutting-edge methodologies including MBT and DBT for treating Borderline Personality Disorder. Jacob has a keen interest in working with individuals from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds. He has published research on the impacts of latent prejudice towards religious minorities on helping behaviors. He employs a dynamic client centered approach infused with mindfulness and action oriented therapies in creating behavioral and emotional change.
